About Orkney
The Orkney Islands are to be found a short crossing over the Pentland Firth from the north of Scotland. The most popular attraction by far is Scapa Flow with it's wealth of diving. Coupled to this is the sheltered nature of Scapa Flow which allows a safe dive site to be found, in anything but the most extreme of weather conditions.
Less well known, and certainly less dived, are the Northern Isles, yet this area too has an equal abundance of diving.
The Sunrise is based in Stromness but can operate anywhere within the island group, travelling wherever whimsy takes you. We will endeavour to visit some of the numerous different harbours or jetties within Scapa Flow during our lunch break or overnight. Most places we visit have easy access to pubs or hotels which sell good bar food, and shops for provisioning along with many points of interest enabling you to see more of Orkney.

The weeks diving begins on the Sunday morning and you would expect to fit two dives, a break and travelling into any ten hour period. By staying in comfort aboard the boat, you have complete freedom of movement. There are no requirements making you get up early as the boat can be on the dive site before you get out of your bunk. All without the extra cost of bed and breakfast!
Travelling to Orkney
The most popular and most practical way to get to Orkney is by ferry. The most convenient route is Scrabster to Stromness with Northlink.

It is advisable to book your passage in advance as the summer crossings can get full.
